The rise of the SUV cannot be denied , the popular choice of the family and Volvo has stormed in with the XC40 with its solid-looking build the shape appeals , but look inside they have manged to make the cabin space look and feel roomy , thanks to it many stream lining designs.

Gone are the buttons and knob replaced by a sleek screen and speakers now housed discreetly in the front doors together with the air ventilated dashboard subwoofer completing a 13 speaker Harman Kardon sound system ,providing the driver with an amazing sound system.

Other little add on is a nifty little hook available by flipping the glove box and a wireless charge pad for the drivers mobile.

The whole of the interior looks stylish and sleek from the bold orange livery to the touchscreen to the detail even in the boot , there is a neat storage space for the parcel shelf when not in use.

So to the drive , the 2.0 litre engine with the eight speed automatic gearbox is quiet and flexible , giving a 56.5mpg fuel economy .

XC40 has been given a lightweight suspension which provides good grip and it swallows up all the lump and bumps. The driver aids all add to the great drive from the pilot assist to the adaptive cruise control.
